The Branding Office is responsible for managing and unifying the university’s brand presence across campus and around the globe. University units should ensure they are ‘on-brand’ by contacting this office or visiting the brand site for U-M branding guidelines, best practices and downloadable identity packages.

Film Office

The Film Office helps commercial films find the perfect location at U-M and make all of the necessary arrangements for a smooth production on campus. This office can also help secure locations for students and faculty working on academic productions.

Freedom of Information (FOIA)

The Freedom of Information Office assists individuals to find requested documents about the University’s business activities. As a public institution, U-M is subject to the provisions of Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act.

Michigan Creative

Michigan Creative provides a full range of marketing and communication services to the U-M community including strategy, market research, communications planning, creative work, graphic design, web development, print materials, multimedia development and special project consultation.

Michigan Media

Michigan Media offers full-service studio and on-location video production services to the U-M and Ann Arbor communities from concept and script development to event coverage, editing, post-production services, duplication and distribution.

Michigan News

Michigan News builds institutional reputation and promotes public awareness about U-M around the globe through news releases, social media and videos. Their team also publishes Michigan Today, an online magazine for Michigan alumni.

Michigan Photography

Michigan Photography provides a variety of photography services (portraits, events, passports, etc.) and maintains a database of more than 500,000 university images that are available for purchase online.

Michigan Public Media

Michigan Radio is the university’s NPR news and information station and the state’s most listened to public radio service with over 520,000 weekly listeners. With broadcast signals serving Ann Arbor/Detroit, Grand Rapids/West Michigan and Flint, the station originates and distributes trusted content to inform, educate, and entertain people who care about the State of Michigan and the world around them.

Presidential Communications works with both the Office of the Vice President for Global Communications and the Office of the President developing executive speeches, remarks, presentations, letters and videos that express and support the president’s vision and goals for U-M.

Public Affairs and Internal Communications

The Office of Public Affairs and Internal Communications performs two complementary, yet distinctly different roles. The Public Affairs staff develops communication strategies for important U-M priorities and initiatives, manages emerging public issues and crisis communications and responds to media inquiries involving U-M’s president and central administration among other roles. The Internal Communications staff publishes the official faculty-staff news source, The University Record, both online and in print.

Social Media

UMSocial oversees the strategic direction and development of all university wide social accounts, as well as, subsidiary college, school and program presences to encourage collaboration, unified messaging and proper brand representation. UMSocial also maintains the official social leadership listing, accounts inventory and policy and provides social media consultation and training.
